Tracker Weekend - Primitive Weapons
Septemper, 2011

Our Tracker Weekend in September revolved around primitive weapons,
specifically a survival bow and and atl-atl.

HereI am demonstrating how to prepare a feather for arrow fletching;
It's not often I get into a picture.

The bows had varying success. Many boys chose wood that was to thick and hard to bend..

Atl-atl making was far less complicated, but the weapon is harder to master.

A monarch butterafly that had forgotten to fly south was frequent visitor throughout the afternoon

The weekend was rounded out by the collection of wild ginger to make ginger syrop and also be a great Sweat Lodge on Sat. night.
The weather was supposed to be terrible but it was one of the sunniest and nicest weekends we've ever had. A nice surprise.
