The Raven Troop was hosted by the DeWaard family
in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and N. Carolina.

We spent a week of hiking in the mountains and exploring the culture of the Cherokee Natives.
Our most challenging hike was to the top of Mount LeConte, which involved an 8 mile hike up and 5 miles down.  Total vertical climb was about 2500 feet.

For much of the climb up, we were in the clouds, which prevented us seeing many of the exciting vistas.  However it was an interesting experience to hike through the fog, and we got many good views on the way down.

Lunch in the lodge at the top was very welcome.

Although shorter, our hike to Ramsey Cascade was a strenuous hike.  But the view at the end was worth it.
